Today, Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell became the first of 823,000 veterans in the state to snag a new DMV-backed 'Military ID’ card.
As it stands, retired military and disabled vets receive ID cards, but most veterans don't have one.
Now with $10, a trip to the DMV, and a driver's license, veterans can get a card and discounts at dozens of stores.
The commissioner of Veterans Services predicts the program will take off and might spread to other states, too.
