Facebook may lift its ban on kids under 13

The Wall Street Journal reports Facebook is working on ways to allow children under 13 on their site. The proposals include linking child accounts to parent accounts so parents can monitor who their children are interacting with, and to approve friend requests.

The company would also be able to charge parents for games and entertainment their children access.

Some privacy groups have concerns, but Facebook knows that many children already lie about their age to illegally create accounts.

The company worries if it does nothing to stop that, government regulators will step in.
