According to police, a man says he was robbed while in the bathroom of a McDonald’s located in the 1600 Block of Armory Drive in Franklin on Saturday.

Police say the victim, a 48-year-old man from New London, NC, says while in the bathroom, a man came out of a stall with a silver revolver and told him to “give it up.” The suspect robbed the victim of his money and took off on a moped toward Walmart.

Officers found the moped in Berkley Court and later caught up with the suspect at Franklin Plaza.

He was taken into custody and police say he had a silver revolver in his possession.

The suspect has been identified as Thomas Lamont White, 34, of the 31000 Block of Darden Street.

He has been charged with armed robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and he also faces a charge for carrying a concealed weapon.

White also had outstanding warrants by the Suffolk Police Department for eluding police, reckless driving, defective equipment, fictitious registration and a suspended driver’s license.

He is now being held in the Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.
