A contractor working on the Nansemond Parkway/Shoulder’s Hill Road Intersection Improvements project has damaged an unmarked Verizon phone line in the area officials say.

Verizon representatives say residents of Count Crescent, Round Table Arch and Page Place can expect to be without land line phone service until late Saturday.

About 45 homes could be affected by the outage.
