Report: Purple Heart awarded to veteran during church service

According to a report posted to WDBJ7.com, a World War II veteran was honored in a big way during a Sunday church service in Lynchburg.

While serving in the Philippines, Rogers was taken prisoner by the Japanese, according to the report. At one point, he was forced to walk 75 miles in 5 days during what’s called the Bataan Death March.
