On Monday, severe thunderstorms blew through Hampton Roads leaving thick and heavy wires on the sidewalk on 35th Street in Newport News.
The heavy rain, wind and lightning made the hot summer afternoon anything but pleasant.
Every few blocks there was another casualty of the storm.
On the next block over on 36th Street, a line was down. It was the same story on 22nd and Hampton.
Then on Maple Avenue, something fell a little thicker than a telephone or power line.
Yashira Lopez heard a crash, looked outside and with the rain blurring her line of vision, she didn't think much of it.
“When we went to the second level of the house and we saw this big branch down, we were like oh my God,” says Lopez.
Cars in the driveway are blocked in until they can get someone out there with a chain saw.
For now they're pretty much stranded.
