According to the Dare County Fire Marshal, there was a marsh fire burning off of Little Colington Island. The fire is now out but there are a few spots that should be extinguished by the end of the day.
They say a total of 150 acres burned.
They say the fire started in a remote location. It did not pose a threat to any structures.
NC Forestry Service personnel reached the area by boat.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
