Update: Teen charged for allegedly killing man at Newport News bus stop

Newport News police say they have found the suspect who has now been accused of killing a man at a bus stop. 

Police have arrested a 17-year-old in connection to the murder. Police say they found the teen in a motel in the 2700 block of West Mercury Blvd. and took him into custody. 

He has been charged with one count each of murder, robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm by a juvenile and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The firearm located in the 1300 block of 25th Street during the investigation is believed to be the weapon used by the suspect police say.

Investigators say James Dix was waiting for the bus at 25th Street and Parish Monday morning when the suspect allegedly robbed him and shot him.

Dix tried to run back to his home, but collapsed a few feet away from his door.
