“It’s unreal. You don’t ever anticipate winning.”

That was Heather Needham’s reaction as she collected her $100,000 top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s Cash 5 game. The Norfolk woman matched all five winning numbers in the July 6 day drawing.

She bought the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven at 1869 Kempsville Road in Virginia Beach. She used Easy Pick and allowed the computer to randomly select the numbers on her ticket. The next day, she checked the winning numbers: 2-12-16-19-27.

“I was happy,” she told Lottery officials. “I had to check it twice.”

Cash 5 drawings are held daily at 1:59 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. The chances of winning the $100,000 top prize are 1 in 278,256.
