On Friday afternoon, a five-month-old baby was found dead inside a minivan by his father.

"The first thing I heard was a man just crying out 'oh my baby, my baby,'" said Sharon Salyer.

Witnesses say the father told them the minivan had been in the day care parking lot for five hours.

Sharon Salyer ran over as the father searched for help.

"The baby's eyes were open and the baby's skin was ice blue-- just nearly the color of his eyes, just this little face," Salyer said.

The father called out asking for anyone who knew CPR.

Salyer gave CPR to the baby, but she knew it was too late.

"I took the baby from him and turned the baby around, and I knew that the baby was dead," Salyer said.

The baby died in the parking lot of Children's Harbor Day Care, but the child was never under their care.

"It's a tragedy," said Toni Cacace-Beshears with Children's Harbor. "I mean any time anything happens to a child, it's a tragedy."

Police and EMS crews arrived. By that time, witnesses say the father had walked to the edge of the parking lot.  He was unable to hold back the heartbreaking sadness.

"Just in a deep, deep sorrow," Salyer said. "Still crying out and occasionally almost falling down. It was just tragic."
