Portsmouth police are looking for a suspect who they say broke into a woman’s apartment and assaulted her.
They say the incident occurred on Monday in the 400 block of Court Street.
Police say the woman was inside of her apartment in a bathroom when the unknown suspect entered the home through an unlocked front door.
According to police, once the suspect was inside of the home, he grabbed the woman and started punching her in the head. They say the suspect kept calling her by a different name and demanded money. The suspect also cut and stabbed the woman they say.
The victim continued to tell the suspect she was not the person he was looking for.
The suspect allegedly stopped assaulting the victim and left the area.
The woman was treated by medics at the scene.
