Norfolk is revamping an eyesore at the intersection of Granby and Main Street.

Wednesday, the Downtown Norfolk Council dedicated "The Plot," an urban-style park located where the Westin Hotel was going to be built.

The entire park is made from donated and recycled materials.

Making Norfolk beautiful and celebrating the mermaid city was a passion of Pete Decker, Jr.’s.

He passed away in February, but this event shows he is not forgotten.

Phillip Decker said his dad would be proud.

A plot purchased by the Decker Law Firm was revealed in memory of Uncle Pete's legacy.

According to organizers, the goal is to eventually build a skyscraper at the location but make good use of the green space while they wait.
