Police say a two-year-old girl was found wandering around Jefferson Avenue in front of the Midtown Motel. Investigators say 21-year-old Barry Claiborne, her mother's boyfriend, was supposed to be watching her.
Instead, they say he was running an errand down the street. This happened at 7:30 a.m.

Police say Claiborne was taking care of the little girl while her mom was working.
He told police the toddler was sleeping when he left her in their motel room. Somehow, she got out.
Cynthia Lewis, who works at the motel, says she is shocked someone would leave a little girl all alone.
Lewis adds, "They found this child in traffic. Not on the sidewalk, but out in the middle of Jefferson Avenue. [It's] no place for a child to be."
Now Claiborne is facing a felony child neglect charge.
