Newport News, Va. – A Newport News man wanted for assaulting a female family member and biting her in the face has been arrested.
The incident happened on July 13th when police responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the 900 block of 13th street. Their investigation determined that Bayshaun Devonte Freeman had assaulted the relative and then bit her in the face.
Officers obtained warrants for Freeman charging him with one count each of assault on a family member and malicious assault.
On Sunday at about 6:35 P.M. an officer noticed a car parked in the area of Rochester Court that was occupied by two men. The car seemed suspicious to the officer who upon checking further recognized one of the men as Freeman. When the officer asked Mr. Freeman to identify himself he provided false information.
The officer arrested Mr. Freeman on the outstanding warrants and also charged him with one count each of providing false information to a law enforcement officer and identity theft to avoid arrest.
Freeman was placed in the custody of the Newport News City Jail.
