National Park Service rangers are investigating what led to a pregnant woman drowning on the Outer Banks.
It happened near the Cape Hatteras Light House in Buxton.
Park rangers say 31-year-old Jill Chenet was pulled from the water Wednesday night around seven.
She was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The area usually has life guards but rangers say their shifts for the day had ended.
