Donald Jackson of Hampton might not mind the hot weather quite as much these days. The heat is the reason he stopped at the 7-Eleven at 8531 Orcutt Avenue in Hampton for a cool drink. He also bought a Jewel 7’s ticket from the Virginia Lottery. That ticket ended up winning $100,000.

Mr. Jackson, who is a small business owner, said he has no special plans for his winnings.

It’s been a lucky year for him. In January, he won $10,000 in the Virginia Lottery’s King of Cash Scratcher game.

Jewel 7’s is one of dozens of games available from the Virginia Lottery. Tickets can be either diamond Ruby Red, like the one Mr. Jackson bought, or Sapphire Blue, Diamond White or Emerald Green. Mr. Jackson is the first player to claim the $100,000 prize in the game, which means 15 top-prize tickets remain unclaimed.
