Christopher Newport University’s provost has been charged with assault.
Newport News police arrested and charged 55-year-old Mark Padilla for physically assaulting his wife at their home on Shoe Lane last month.
Padilla serves as the chief academic officer at CNU.
University officials have not issued a response at this time.
