The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has scheduled multiple closures at a variety of water crossings this weekend.
The Route 17 Gilmerton Bridge will close to vehicular traffic on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, and the Interstate 64 High Rise Bridge will close briefly on the morning of Sunday, Aug. 12.
The Gilmerton Bridge will close at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug.10, and reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11. The bridge will remain open to motorists for the remainder of the weekend.
All lanes of the I-64 High Rise Bridge will be closed Sunday, Aug.12, beginning at 6 a.m. Lanes will remain closed for approximately three hours while crews perform bridge maintenance.
All maintenance operations will occur during periods with the least possible impact to motorists, while maintaining safe and efficient travel conditions throughout the area. VDOT recommends motorists utilize the I-264 Downtown Tunnel as an alternate route during these roadway closures.
