On Wednesday at around 7:45 p.m. at the Chesapeake Police Academy Firing Range, an officer was shot in the hand after firing his weapon.
Before clearing the weapon, a round from the gun hit the officer in the hand officials say.
The officer sustained a minor non-life threatening injury.
No further information has been released.
