Portsmouth, Va. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 25-year-old man from Myrtle Grove Sound near Wrightsville Beach on Tuesday.
The man’s father called 911 reporting the man had sustained neck and leg injuries after diving into shallow water from a 16-foot boat.
When crews arrived, they say the man’s father was holding him in shallow water.
Crews say they threw over a heaving line to get the victim into deeper water so the crew could get the man on a backboard and onto the boat.
He was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C.
