World War II veteran gets diploma

Posted

It was a big day for a World War II veteran from Oklahoma.

95-year-old Lois Turner got her high school diploma on Tuesday.

She dropped out of school in the fifth grade to help take care of her family.

When Pearl Harbor was bombed, Lois joined the Army.

Even though Lois did earn her G.E.D. many years ago - she says without her diploma, her education didn't feel complete.

"I just feel more complete with the diploma, I should have had it, I should have been able to stay in school. "

Lois went through a state program in Oklahoma that allows World War II vets to receive their diploma.
