Virginia Beach paid tribute to the city's first African-American law enforcement officers.

The special ceremony was held at Virginia Beach's second precinct.

Thirty-one officers were honored including 23 black auxiliary police officers who served the Seatack community prior to 1969.

The men honored are credited with paving the way for other black officers to follow in their footsteps.
