Police say early Tuesday morning, four people robbed a group of men at the corner of San Antonio and Galveston Boulevards.

According to court papers, it happened after the victims told the suspects they didn't know where to get drugs.

Derek Lawrence, who is behind bars for the robbery, says his friend, Doug Edwards,  then pulled a gun and made men get on the ground.

Then Lawrence says he was forced to take part in the robbery.

"And he told me search one of the pockets, the man had a white shirt on, and I didn't go through his pockets I touched it, that's all I did."

Court documents show they stole money, a wallet, and a cell phone from the victims.

According to Lawrence, Edwards shot himself in the leg while going through the victims car.

Lawrence said he did lie to police about what happened at first, but now he's telling the truth.
