Leslie has strengthened into our 6th hurricane of the season and is already impacting Hampton Roads.
The slow-moving storm is kicking up the surf and creating dangerous rip current conditions up and down the east coast.
Leslie is sitting about 450 miles SSE of Bermuda and is barely moving. The storm is expected to drift in the same general area for the next few days, finally picking up forward speed and intensity as we head into the weekend.
Right now, Leslie has sustained winds of 75 mph with some higher gusts. As the storm moves north this weekend, it’s expected to intensify into a category two storm.
It won’t have a direct impact on the U.S., but could make landfall in Canada’s Maritime Provinces early next week.
