NewsChannel 3 has learned new details about a former airman shot by police yesterday.
The 51-year-old Chesterfield County man is in jail without bond and is expected to be in court Monday.
He's accused of beating his wife with a baseball bat while she was sleeping.
Police say the man then took off in a car and when an officer stopped him, he got out and pointed his gun at the officer.
That officer then fired, hitting the veteran in the arm.
He faces assault and gun charges.
His wife is recovering in the hospital.
