The Virginia Beach Police Department wants residents and visitors to be aware of possible traffic delays on Friday, August 24, 2012.

The area known as Princess Anne Commons will be experiencing numerous events which may cause traffic congestions.

The area is near the intersection of Princess Anne Road and Dam Neck Road.

The Farm Bureau Live Amphitheater is hosting a sold out concert and is located at 3550 Cellar Door Way. The Virginia Beach Sportsplex located at 2181 Landstown Road will be hosting a high school football game. And Princess Anne Athletic Complex is also hosting several sporting events.

There will also be a home football game at Kellam High School located at 2323 Holland Road.

Based on the significant number of events in the area and proximity to each other, it is anticipated there will be traffic congestion between 4:00 p.m. and 9 p.m., Friday evening.

Police ask motorists to give themselves plenty of travel time and prepare for any possible traffic delays in these areas.

Also, be mindful of a larger-than-usual volume of pedestrian traffic – particularly around the Sportsplex and park area.

Police remind drivers to yield to pedestrians, and be alert at all times.
