Virginia Beach, Va.–A fox attack was reported on Tuesday afternoon in the Alexandria section of the city.

Officials say dispatch received a call about a man who was bitten by a fox.

When crews arrived, they say the man had been bitten several times by the fox and he was transported to the hospital.

They say the fox attacked a weed eater and then the man was attacked.

The man was able to get away from the fox to call 911.

Officials are now looking for the fox and Animal Control has set traps.

Police are asking the public to call the police non-emergency number at 757-385-5000 if they see the fox.

Officials believe that because of the animal’s actions, it may be rabid. If you see it, call officials. Do not approach it.
