Hampton firefighters are again at Paula Maria apartments on Martha Lee Drive, where heavy rains have flooded some first-floor apartment units.

In addition to the 40 residents whose units have flooded, many other residents of Paula Maria are being evacuated for the night.

Dominion Power is shutting off electricity to the complex due to the flooding.

Officials say about 150 more people also live at the complex.

The city is opening a shelter for those residents.

If anyone else is impacted by the storm, the shelter will open at 10:30 p.m. at Eaton Middle School on Cunningham Drive in the Coliseum area.

The Fire Department will arrange transportation for residents of Paula Maria.

One person was evacuated from the Century Plaza Apartments on Lassiter Drive.

Paula Maria and Century Plaza were the site of evacuations on Saturday as well, with 27 people helped out by city firefighters with boats and high trucks.

Many roads and streets throughout the city experienced flash flooding with the heavy rains, both on Saturday and again on Tuesday.
