A convicted murderer has escaped from a prison farm in Halifax County, North Carolina.

According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, James Ladd Junior was serving a life sentence for two murders that took place in 1980.

A tractor he was using on the Tillery Correctional Center Farm was found abandoned shortly before noon on Sunday. More than 50 people and dogs were out searching for him this evening, but did not find him.

If you know where he is, call your local law enforcement or the Tillery Correctional Center.
