NEW YORK (CNN) — Federal authorities running a sting operation have arrested a man who they say was planning to blow up the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in lower Manhattan, according to a federal law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation.
The suspect is expected to make an initial court appearance Wednesday at a federal courthouse in Brooklyn, the source said.
The circumstances of the arrest are not yet clear.
A separate law enforcement source said the public was not in danger because the suspect never acquired the necessarily material for an attack.
