President’s comment about horses and bayonets draws criticism, praise

A comment made during Monday night’s final presidential debate is drawing criticism not only from republicans calling it petty and belittling but also from the Marines.

That's because Marines still use bayonets in boot camp and are issued them as standard equipment for close hand-to-hand combat.

While they are not used as much in current wars, many feel bayonets are still very relevant in the US Military.

On the other side former Navy secretary Richard Danzig said he thought the line was terrific.
