An evacuation was ordered in Mathews County for people living in low lying areas. The low lying areas, particularly in the southern end flood regularly and streets become impassable, and emergency vehicles would not be able to get through.
A shelter will open at 8 am Sunday at Thomas Hunter Middle School.
