Man accused of skipping cab fare in Newport News

Newport News police need your help to find a man accused of larceny after police say he exited a cab without making a payment.

Police say on October 21st at about 12:50 pm, they responded to 28th Street and Chestnut Ave. to calls about a larceny.

Police say a driver for the Yellow Cab Company in Hampton reported a man wearing a red, black and white jacket that left the cab without paying.

Police say three people entered the cab at Sam`s Club in Newport News. The driver described them as two females and a male, possibly juveniles.

The group told the driver they wanted to go to the 1100 block of 26th Street.

When they got there, they allegedly got out of the cab and did not pay.

The cab driver indicated the male stated he was paying for the cost of the trip.

The driver said the trio fled south bound. She followed them but lost contact while calling 911.
