Changes may be on the way for Virginia Beach students.
The school day could get a little longer for some.
The school board heard a proposal about extending the day by 15 minutes.
A basic schedule would run from 7:20 in the morning to 2:10.
The proposal was developed - in part - to address new state-mandated graduation requirements.
This could go into effect for the 2013-14 school year.
Elementary and middle schools wouldn't have longer days but could have different start and end times to accommodate the transportation schedule for high school students.
A public hearing will be held about this proposal at the November 20th school board meeting.
