Sewage is no longer spilling into Shingle Creek.

Crews are now working on installing a new valve.

This spill started during hurricane sandy and didn't stop until this morning.

During that time, over 18 million gallons of raw sewage spilled into the creek.

Crews should finish installing the permanent valve sometime Thursday night.

In Elizabeth City, it took until 4:30 Thursday morning to stop a sewage spill.

Officials say the spill started yesterday afternoon when a worker hit a sewer line.
