Residents of East Ocean View woke up this morning to find a privately owned barge grounded at 3rd Bay Street.
John Bull with the Va. Marine Resources Commission tells NewsChannel 3 the incident was not reported to officials. He says the barge is privately owned, and the owner is trying to have it removed.
No word yet on how the incident happened. If this barge stays aground for two weeks, then the Va. Marine Resources Commission will have to assist in the removal. Currently, there is no violation and it isn’t seen as a threat.
