Thousands of former submarine service members are asking for the US Navy to re-open the investigation of the USS Scorpion.

The nuclear submarine sank in May of 1968 and killed 99 men.

A Naval investigation later that year found the exact reason the submarine sank could not be determined.

The US Submarine Veterans are behind this latest petition.

There are about 14,000 people in the group.

A different proposal to re-start the investigation was denied earlier this year.
