Police say a 43-year-old man was shot in Newport News while he was in the living room of his home in the 600 block of 12th Street.
They say shots were fired outside and one shot came into his house.
He was hit in the left arm and torso.
He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
There were three children in the house police say.
None of the children were injured.
Police do not know who fired the shots outside of the home.
