NewsChannel 3 has learned new details about a possible sports arena in Virginia Beach.

Mayor Will Sessoms says Comcast must have a deal with a sports team by Monday.

The mayor told the Sacramento Bee there must be a deal on the table before any local lawmakers will ask the general assembly for money.

The proposed 300 million dollar arena would be built across from the Convention Center.

Virginia Beach would need 150 million in state funding for it to get off the ground according to what the mayor told the Bee.

No requests for money will be made unless Comcast has a deal by Monday.

The mayor told the Bee he'd be willing to pursue a Virginia Beach sports arena in the future if things didn't work out this year.
