U.S. troops at an air base in Germany have loaded planes with Patriot missile batteries that are headed to Turkey.
The Netherlands, Germany, and the United States are each sending two Patriot missile batteries and up to 400 troops to Turkey to secure the border along Syria.
The border has become a point of tension in the two year long insurgency in Syria against President Bashar al-Assad.
Syrian government shells frequently land inside Turkish territory. Turkey is concerned the civil war could spread, and further destabilize the region.
