It was a celebration in Norfolk on Friday.
City leaders and young athletes joined to celebrate the opening of the new gym in the Ingleside neighborhood in Norfolk.
The participants cut nets to mark the special occasion.
The new gym is right next to Ingleside Elementary School and students will use the gym since the school does not have a gym inside.
The new gym will be open Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Hours will be expanded during summer months and school breaks.
Access to the gym is only $10/year for Norfolk youth and $20/year for Norfolk adults, by purchasing a Facility Use Card.
