Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story will work to preserve sand dunes on the base using Christmas trees.
More than 300 donated trees will be used to preserve the dune and stop erosion.
This is the sixth year for the event.
Officials say there has been an increase of tree donations and volunteers.
The base will also work on the dunes Wednesday.
