According to our sister station WTVR, the house has approved Virginia’s first openly gay judge.
Tracy Thorne Begland will be a permanent judge on the Richmond General District Court.
The final vote was 66-28 in favor of Begland.
His nomination was rejected last year.
The nomination will now go to the state senate which is expected to approve according to WTVR.
If this happens, he will become the first openly gay judge confirmed by the state legislature.
