Norfolk police searching for man who tried to carjack woman at JANAF Shopping Center

Norfolk, Va. - Norfolk police are searching for a man who tried to carjack a woman at JANAF Shipping Center Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the man forced the woman from her vehicle and attempted to drive off, but was stopped by a witness who blocked the woman's vehicle from moving.

The man fled on foot with the victim's purse. He was last seen leaving the parking lot in a blue, two door Ford F150 with gold or beige trim and long bed. The truck's exterior was extremely dirty, there was a license plate on the back of the truck but not one on the front. The plate was also extremely dirty but was described as an out of state plate possibly from Connecticut.

The suspect is described as a black man in his mid twenties, 5' 09" to 5'10'" tall, 140 to 150 pounds with brown skin, low cut hair and dark eyes. He was last seen wearing a dirty white t-shirt and beige cargo shorts that were sagging. The suspect's face is described as being shaped like a peanut, his personal appearance was described as being dirty and unkempt. He also had a silver ring in his lower lip with a silver ball on its end.
