Newport News, Va. - Darragh Copley is live Wednesday morning, as crews prepare to open the doors of a new Walmart store on Jefferson Avenue.
Free samples will be offered - while supplies last. Doors open around 7:30 a.m.
Newport News residents will now have a new place to shop and work.
The new Walmart Neighborhood Market is located on 11214 Jefferson Ave.
The new store will feature a variety of fruits and vegetables, cakes and bread as well as meats and other food items.
The store will also have a pharmacy with a drive-thru lane.
According to a press release, this opening creates 90 jobs in the area.
The ribbon cutting celebration is at 7:30 a.m.
Throughout the day, there will be product samplings, giveaways, and other entertainment events.
