A Norfolk Target cashier faces federal charges after court records show crooks passed thousands of dollars of counterfeit money through his register.

Levonte Riden was working at the Target store on Military Highway.

According to affidavits obtained by NewsChannel 3, more than $16,000 in counterfeit money passed through Riden’s register, this happened while crooks would avoid using the fake money with other cashiers.

According to documents, the crooks would wait for Riden to open his lane then buy thousands in high-dollar items and gift cards.

Then they would exchange the items for real money.
