Teen accused of shooting at vehicle on US 158

Kill Devil Hills, NC—According to the Kill Devil Hills Police Department, a 16-year-old has been arrested following a shooting incident on US 158.

Police say on Friday, March 1 at around 3:44 p.m., they received a call stating that someone shot at a vehicle on US 158 near Arch Street. The victim told officials he saw a man in the back seat of a burgundy SUV point a handgun out of the window and fire two shots.

They say one of the shots hit the vehicle Johnny Bell, the victim, was driving and shattered the back glass.

Bell got a description and a tag of the vehicle and reported it to police.

A County ABC Enforcement officer spotted the vehicle and it was stopped by several officers.

The suspect was then taken into custody and charged with assault by pointing a gun, going armed to the terror of the people and injury to real property.

He was placed under a $1,000 bond.

The driver of the vehicle was not charged.

Police say they recovered a Walther P99 compact air pistol after the teen was arrested.
