Virginia Beach, Va. – Diamond Springs Elementary now has a cheering squad, focused on ‘The Leader in Me’ program.

The students in the cheering squad demonstrate leadership by following the Seven Habits that they have learned through the ‘Leader in Me’ program.

Along with leadership, students show school spirit, sportsmanship, and team building through this cheering squad.

The squad also does community service projects, volunteers at school events, and sets examples for their fellow students.

The squad is made up of first grade students and is called the ‘Leading Diamonds’.

Several teacher assistants at Diamond Springs (Tierra Ford, Jazmine Alphose, Kenisha Matthews, Keyona Edwards, Kenyett Olds, and Beate Moye) are in charge of the program.

To pay for uniforms and other items for the cheer squad, staff members at the school raised money – including sponsoring a cheerleader.
