James City County, Va. - A 14-year-old boy is facing several charges after police say he pointed a BB gun at three middle school girls while they were waiting at the Green Gables bus stop according to police.

15-20 Berkley Middle School students were at the bus stop in the morning when the boy came up to them with the BB gun in his waistband and allegedly pulled it out and pointed it at three girls.

Officers say the girls, who thought the gun was real, told their parents who then contacted police.

Major Rubino showed NewsChannel 3 his gun next to the BB gun and he says the only difference is size and the orange barrel.

"It would be concerning to a 12-year-old  and a 14-year-old as to whether or not this is real depending on the lighting. This, if pointed at a police officer at the wrong time could result in the person who's holding it and pointing it getting shot."

The boy faces  charges of carrying a concealed weapon, three counts of brandishing a firearm and possession of a weapon on school property.
