7-inch knife found in Suffolk student’s backpack

Posted

Suffolk, Va. – A 7 1/2 inch kitchen knife was found in a student’s backpack in Suffolk on Wednesday at Turlington Woods School officials say.

Staff initially reported the smell of marijuana coming from the boy’s locker room in the gym, and students were taken into the library to be searched. Nothing was found on the other students.

One of the student’s refused to be searched and was taken to the office but was eventually searched also.

When staff members were searching his bag, they asked the student if there was anything they should know about, and he told them about the knife according to officials.

The knife was found in the zippered part of the bag and then turned over to the school resource officer. The knife was not displayed or used in a threatening way school officials say.
